Located in the heart of the old village of Montmartre, the charm and value of this very specific museum lies in the collections and documents it contains, the buildings themselves and the garden that surrounds them. The main house, the so-called "maison de Rosimond", named after the famous actor of Molière's troop, has retained the rural and picturesque aspect of seventeenth century houses. It was the home of many famous artists, namely A. Renoir, U. Utrillo, S. Valadon, R. Dufy, E. Satie, L. Bloy, E. Bernard, F. Poulbot... It stages temporary exhibitions, more specially dedicated to artists from all fields having lived in Montmartre, or having created a major part of their work there. The museum also housed a Cultural Centre that regularly brings together people from the literary and art world for lectures and concerts.
