My wife Elena and I, had a wonderful time at your hotel,
April this year. Although our room was not a huge one,
we had all we needed beginning with heat in bathroon,
comfortable bed, superb treatment of you all.
You are wonderful people-we'll never forget you and your
incredible city - Paris.
I stayed at Hotel Cronstadt in the Spring of 1991. A friend visted me from Canada, while I was working in London, and we escaped for a week to Paris. We chose Hotel Cronstadt by happy chance. It was a special little place, where my morning coffee and croissants where always just the way they should have been. The staff were friendly; I suppose it may have helped that my friend Marie-Mireille speaks beautiful French (French Canadian). Everything was within walking distance, although I only walked to La Tour Eiffel once, because it took almost an hour. The Centre Pompidou, the Seine, the Notre Dame Cathedral, Gare du Nord, and the RER were all close by. Its been a decade since my first visit, and it is high on my list of places that I've stayed at, that I really must return to someday. I stayed only a week, but the memories will stay with me forever.
My friend and I stayed here for a long weekend while on vacation in Paris when we studied abroad in Aix and it was the perfect little home away from home for our few days in Paris. We recommended it to all of our friends. It provided all the comforts of home at an affordable price. Thanks for making our experience that much better.
My daughter, sister & grandson (5 mo's)stayed there in Oct/02 - for 3 nights. We had a lovely room - clean, quiet & large enough that we didn't feel crowded -dispite 3 adults sharing with a baby & all his paraphenalia (stroller etc). Nice large bathroom - the balcony doors (6" balcony) - but was nice to have fresh air & was cold enough at night that we kept our juice & wine on it.
The location was perfect- walking distance to many attractions (&the train station) - we'd go sightseeing in the morning -then stop back at the hotel - as was so convenient - having picked up some lunch at one of the many cafes, grocers or lunch bars that were all around - could use our own bathroom - rest & relax a while - and then were back at it again.
The hotel staff were very helpfull - re what subway route, etc. to take for our excursions - the ones we couldn't walk to -- there were stops really close to hotel.
I stayed at the Hotel Cronstadt 3 or 4 times while in Paris. The Hotel staff is great, very friendly. All rooms include a free breakfast with mini-baguette, and a croissant and coffee, hot chocolate or tea. The server in the morning always greeted us at the table with a "Qu'est ce que je vous donne?"...we found this quite funny and it was a great way to start our day! :)
The hotel is located right next to the "Cadet" subway stop, very practical. There are also many restaurants in the area, it's a short walk from the Opera House and the Galleries Lafayette shopping area.
I loved my stay there...it is only a 2* so don't expect great luxury, but it was great for what we were doing. Plus you don't spend hardly any time in the hotel when in Paris because there is so much to see outside the Hotel walls. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!
Cheers and bon voyage!
The Cronstadt is quaint, small hotel full of Paris "charm". Though
most of the staff does not speak English, they were delightful,
of course it doesn't hurt that I have a fondness for French men and it
appears they, for Canadian women!
There is even a little fountain in the foyer, and courtyard garden out
back.
Lovely area, not busy and not at ALL touristy! Actually, I don't think I
saw more than four people with guidebooks in the neighborhood the whole
trip! And with two metro stops to choose from, one on Line 7 (Cadet) and the
other 12, (N.D. Lorette) you can get pretty much anywhere you want Paris in 20
minutes. Unless of course you get lost or sidetracked after leaving the
station.
Befriend the Metro!
Coffee was GOOD, and croissants fresh and bathrooms are brand new.... at least the ones on the sixth floor that I sneaked a peak into are. New sink, new tile,
new shower, new toilet. The "double, with bath" next to my single room
had a very large tub, and a spacious room.
My fiancee and I stayed at the Cronstadt in April '03. In fact, we became fiancee'd in the hotel. The room was adequately comfortable, the staff adequately accomodating. We remember fondly the charming little parisien elevator (built for lovers, presumably). Hot water is inconsistent on the top floor in the a.m., but shrug it off -- this is common in Paris. We were treated very well in local cafes and shops, down to the most humble convenience store. Montmartre, the Folies Bergeres, Moulin Rouge, Opera, Pigalle, and the Gare Du Nord are all within easy reach, as are the fantastic restaurants on rue Bonne Nouvelle. And there's a little laundromat that came in handy half a block away, on Rue de Montholon. The area has "real Paris" appeal, and you won't find this kind of flavour on the Left Bank. We love this hotel and the neighborhood it's in, and we'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
