The following are photographs I took while in Paris in 1978.
Probably many things have changed since then, but I'm certain many
of these images capture a subset of Paris culture that is still viable today.
My personal commentary accompanies each image. [DISCLAIMER]
You will note that for some images I cannot pinpoint the location.
Perhaps you can answer the questions I pose?
[ACKNOWLEDGEMENT]
These are my personal photos and recollections of Paris and Parisians. I alone am responsible for my remarks. And, after so many years, I cannot claim that my recollections are correct. While most of my stories are true, some names and details may be fictionalized. Most images are uncropped, except for the jpeg ones, some of which may also have been stylized using Photoshop.
I hope it is evident that I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Paris. Also, I found Parisians to be very friendly and interesting, which is why I took so many photographs of them and their city!
I am interested in comments from Parisians regarding my photographs and the questions I pose. Also, if you take exception to any of my comments, please do not hesitate to send me a message (no flames, please!). Thank you.
Thanks to Paul Lorz, who sometimes hangs at USENET (soc.culture.french), for his help identifying some locales and his background information on French culture and history. Please don't blame him, however, for any of the misinformation here-in as he has not had an opportunity to review this material.
I'd also like to thank Norman Barth for his encouragement and generous donation of space on this wonderful Paris WWW server!
